Among the eco-friendly endeavours of ICICLE, plant-dyeing is an indispensable commitment. The dyeing technique using bluegrass in China dates back to two thousand years ago. The colorant ingredient in bluegrass, namely Indigo, is a natural component that is harmless to the environment. The indigo fabric created with traditional dyeing method transforms through a natural process and different tonalities are achieved through repeated soaking and oxidation. Increased repetition results in denser colorant on the fabric, and hence darker indigo colour.
For SS21, ICICLE presents five shades of indigo in our womenswear collection as shirts for daily life and commute, where the traditional technique enters the contemporary sphere. The Penta-Indigo shirts combine airy and cool fabric with ancient bluegrass dyeing, offering a natural comfort for both body and mind.
